Bangladesh MP calls for ethical and transparent recruitment



Md Israfil Alam MP, Chairman of the Bangladesh Parliamentarians’ Caucus on Migration and Development, called for forging multilateral partnership to stop visa trading in some of the labour recruiting countries.

Md Israfil Alam MP has been involved in CPA UK's Modern Slavery Project, attending the Legislative Drafting Seminar on Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking earlier this year. Speaking at the United Nations  High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development Goal in New York on Wednesday Israfil stressed on the need to develop human rights based and gender-responsive bilateral, regional and multilateral labour mobility agreements in keeping with the ILO standards to improve situation for the migrant workers.

He emphasized on the need for ethical recruitment of migrant workers and that to achieve the SDG 8.8 it was important to ensure accountability of the middlemen.
